The world of education is constantly evolving, as does our communities. This presentation will directly address the concerns of education professionals in dealing with the LGBTQ community. How do you ask someone their pronouns? What if my students’ parents aren’t supportive of their pronouns or gender identity?
This presentation is meant to provide an overview of how to communicate effectively, relay correct and positive information, and interact with LGBTQ student. You will receive useful tools and information on how to educate the rest of your students on these sensitive topics to help create a safe learning environment for everyone. With the ever changing world of education, it is important that we treat all of the students with equity. The information for this presentation has been gathered through discussions with LGBTQ resources both locally and accredited sources nationwide, numerous studies conducted by private organizations, and personal experience.

- Discussion of the who, what, and why of the LGBTQ community
- How to ask and properly utilize pronouns and names
- How to handle situations where the student’s parents or guardians are not supportive
- How to help your LGBTQ students feel safe in the education setting
- An interactive Q&A session where those attending are free to ask anything and everything. There are no “off-limit” questions as it relates to your students and how to be sensitive to the LGBTQ+ community.
